Drucilla Nelson-Harding

Trustee- Founder and Chair

My name is Drucilla Nelson-Harding. I am a Christian and a single parent of two energetic boys. The younger is 11yrs old and he was diagnosed with Autism at age 3yrs.  I have been working in the health and social care sector for over 20yrs. I have worked with various services that includes children, young people and adults. My current role a Social Worker for a local authority. God gave me the vision for this charity/ ministry about 7yrs ago. The vision was to sharing my experiencing of raising a young man with special needs and to share the hope and love I have experience to families who manages the unique challenges of raising children with Autism.  From the high levels of parental stress, to sleep disturbances, behavioural management, and social isolation, I am familiar with impact of these on families and the need for a support system to cope.

Through my professional experience, noticed increases the challenges caused by the limited awareness of the condition and interpretation of neurodiversity behaviour within the African and Caribbean community.  The Charity recognises the barriers of families accessing appropriate support and how the impact of these causes added challenges.  My passion with to use my personal and professional experiences to influence cultural perspective and stigma about the Autism condition.  I am pleased to have partner with likes minded Trustee who have the same desire and drive to enhance the lives of the community.
